Lumetrics Ships Newest Intraocular Lens Inspection System to Major IOL Producer
Rochester, NY (PRWEB) June 06, 2014 -- This month, Lumetrics shipped its newest design of CrystalWave™ intraocular lens inspection systems to a major U.S. manufacturer. The CrystalWave™ 765 is the latest system in a full line of intraocular lens and contact lens inspection systems produced in the U.S. by Lumetrics, the world’s leader of inspection systems for the ophthalmics industry.
CrystalWave™ systems are used by the major IOL manufacturers in the world as well as the FDA to inspect intraocular lenses. Focal length, wavefront, and MTF measurements are combined in a single instrument to minimize handling. Older technologies required separate instruments for power and MTF and required subjective judgments by technicians. Wavefront technology provides objective measurements that are repeatable for process control. Lumetrics uses this same patented Shack-Hartmann technology to also manufacture the ClearWave™ inspection system used by the largest contact lens manufacturers in the world.
The CrystalWave™ 765 allows lenses to be inspected either wet or dry and can be configured either horizontally or vertically for inspection. Additionally, the CrystalWave™ 765 can incorporate Lumetrics latest IOL rotating cuvette. This cuvette rotates the IOL and allows the axis reading on the CrystalWave™ to be a direct measurement of cylinder axis error. This measurement is critical especially as newer more complex lenses are designed and installed in patients.
The CrystalWave™ K765 also supports production line installations and is insensitive to vibrations. The measurement zone accepts a single IOL or multiple IOLs in a carousel. The optional CrystalServer™ software allows user written programs to control CrystalWave™ in coordination with robotic equipment for fully automated inspection.
