Can Acid Reflux Drugs Cause Chronic Fatigue?; polyDNA Reviews the Medical Literature

Can acid reflux drugs weaken the immune system and cause chronic fatigue? polyDNA answers a question from its June 2014 survey, using data from peer reviewed, scientific journals.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) June 13, 2014

polyDNA’s most recent survey, taken in June 2014, showed that 67% of respondents wanted to know if their prescription acid reflux drug could cause chronic fatigue. The answer is yes. Research shows that a common side effect of these drugs is a feeling of physical and mental fatigue. (See the AARP, from June 12, 2012) (1) Drugs used to treat acid reflux are called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). “Patients who take PPIs for as little as three months are at risk of low blood levels of magnesium, which can cause loss of appetite, fatigue and weakness, among other symptoms.” (1) These drugs can also weaken the immune system. “Data suggest that … the effects of proton pump inhibitors on the immune system can promote the development of infections.” (See Revista Espanola de Quimioterapia, from March 24, 2011) (2) This allows latent viral infections, with viruses such as EBV, CMV, HCV, etc. to increase in number and cause a feeling of physical and mental weakness and fatigue.

polyDNA recommends that people take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin against latent viruses that can cause fatigue. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against EBV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the (EBV and other viruses)…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (2) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (2) In addition, this natural antiviral was recently proven to reduce mental and physical fatigue in a post-marketing clinical study that followed FDA guidelines.

Both products can be ordered online on the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin websites.

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.
Which acid reflux prescription drugs can cause fatigue?

There are many. They include esomeprazole (Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec) and pantoprazole (Protonix). (1) Individuals can check if their proton pump inhibitor causes fatigue by inserting the name of the drug in the search bar located here: http://www.drugs.com.

How do these drugs weaken the immune system?

The drug classes mentioned above, “powerfully block the secretion of stomach acid. This has the effect of reducing heartburn and nausea, but it also blocks one of the body’s main defenses against bacteria and viruses. According to a 2004 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) (3), 70% of the hospitalized patients in the study received a PPI or other stomach acid-suppressing drug within hours of being admitted. The study showed that patients who were given PPIs had a 30% higher risk of developing pneumonia.” (See VirginiaHopkinsTestkits.com) (4)

How is a weak immune system linked to fatigue?

According to Dr. Hanan Polansky’s theory of Microcompetition, the decrease in the immune system will increase the number of latent viruses in these patients. One typical virus that infects most people is the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV). Research shows that in high concentrations, these viruses cause fatigue. Therefore, polyDNA suggests reducing the numbers of latent viruses in the body to reduce physical and mental fatigue. Individuals can read more about Dr. Polansky’s theory here: http://www.cbcd.net.

Suppressing the immune system can also lead to a reactivation of latent viruses in the body. As one study found, “proton pump inhibitors appear to favor immune suppression.” (See the journal BMC Medicine, from June 7, 2012) (5). This further weakening of the immune system can allow an infection with a latent virus, such as with EBV, to create conditions favorable to viral reactivation and even more intense feelings of fatigue. In fact, the virus itself is responsible for feelings of “extreme fatigue.” (See the CDC, last updated January 7, 2014) (6)

polyDNA recommends that individuals who take prescription acid reflux drugs also take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin against latent viruses, such as EBV.

polyDNA is a biotechnology company that develops dietary supplements using the unique scientific method developed by Dr. Hanan Polansky, which is based on Computer Intuition.

In addition to his unique scientific method, Dr. Polansky published the highly acclaimed scientific discovery, called Microcompetition with Foreign DNA. The discovery explains how foreign DNA fragments, and specifically, DNA of latent viruses, cause most major diseases.

polyDNA developed Gene-Eden-VIR, an antiviral natural remedy that helps the immune system kill latent viruses.
