Alaskan Outdoor Adventures Await as Tsaina Lodge Opens for Season
Charlottesville, Virginia (PRWEB) June 06, 2014 -- To the shared delight of local Alaskan adventure seekers and those around the world ready to check a major box on their bucket list, Natural Retreats will open the Tsaina Lodge for the summer season on Saturday.
Tsaina Lodge welcomes locals who make the scenic drive, just 40 minutes from Valdez to the top of Thompson Pass, to take advantage of dozens of guided outdoor opportunities or simply enjoy an evening out with some of the best views, food and camaraderie the region has to offer.
“Everywhere Natural Retreats welcomes guests, we are proud to serve the local community first,” said Matthew Spence, CEO of Natural Retreats. “On any given night – as the sun burns long and bright – we look forward to raising a glass with those who have lived in and explored Alaska for a lifetime alongside those who have traveled thousands of miles for the privilege.”
Internationally known for its secluded luxury, the 24-room Tsaina Lodge weaves together experiences highlighted by casual fine dining featuring locally sourced ingredients, first-class accommodations, and staff committed to unparalleled levels of service.
The immediate area surrounding Tsaina Lodge is an outdoor paradise, offering unique experiences spanning the virtually untouched inland wilderness to the Prince William Sound. On any given day, visitors can connect with wildlife from both environments, taking advantage of activities as challenging or relaxing as a guest desires. For some, a picnic lunch and a whale-watching cruise, or a simple walk among the amazing wildflowers and waterfalls, is the perfect antidote to the rush of daily life.
Of course, access to once-in-a-lifetime adventures via the onsite helipad – unlocking thousands of square miles to fly fish rivers few people have ever seen, kayak amongst icebergs, and hike trails blazed solely by wildlife – is the signature connection to the natural world offered by Tsaina Lodge. It’s also the type of unique experience that drives deep affinity among guests to Natural Retreats locations across the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland.
“The leadership of the Natural Retreats team at Tsaina Lodge is thrilled to get the summer season underway,” continued Spence. “Our team is the perfect blend of experience, expertise and passion.”
Adam Shoen is the General Manager of Tsaina Lodge. His experience spans nearly two decades of guiding client outdoor excursions and managing luxury adventure retreats in Montana, Alaska, Hawaii and California in the United States as well as up-market safari lodges located in Kenyan parks and reserves.
Chef Tom Morris, graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, joined Tsaina Lodge from Michels Restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii. Earlier in his career, Morris was heavily involved in the local food movement in Upstate New York and Vermont, and has spent much of his career working in 4 or 5-diamond properties, possessing a true passion for fine dining.
Guide Lacey Savage hails from northern Idaho, and completed Guide School at Natural Retreats’ South Fork Lodge on the Snake River. At 25, Lacey joins the ranks of pioneering female guides, bringing together a lifelong passion for fishing and the outdoors with significant expertise and the patience to teach. A social media maven, Lacey will be bringing her adventures to life online in the weeks and months to come.
The Tsaina Lodge summer season runs through October 15. Services and activities provided at Tsaina Lodge include massage, helicopter tours, guided heli-fishing, guided hiking, ice climbing, sea kayaking, chartered trolling for salmon and deep sea fishing, and more.
