Prevent Cancer Foundation Hires New Managing Directors of External Affairs and Development
Alexandria, Virginia (PRWEB) June 05, 2014 -- As Prevent Cancer Foundation begins to plan for its 30th anniversary (December 2015), new senior staff were hired to round out its team. Jeanne Ellinport came on as Managing Director of External Affairs and Liz Davey as Managing Director of Development. “Jeanne and Liz both bring invaluable nonprofit experience in marketing and communications, public relations and fundraising. They will be incredible assets to the Prevent Cancer team,” says Jan Bresch, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.
Before joining Prevent Cancer, Jeanne Ellinport spent more than 20 years in the Washington D.C. area handling communications and public relations—including outreach, strategic planning, communications, operations, media relations and social media —for all three sectors: government, corporate and nonprofit. Ellinport previously worked with the American Red Cross Hurricane Recovery Program, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of the National Capital Area and as a Special Assistant to President Clinton in the Office of Public Liaison. “Passion for a cause has driven my work throughout much of my career. As I’ve watched family members struggle through cancer treatments and seen firsthand what a lack of early detection can lead to-- I can’t think of another cause I’d rather be working for today. I look forward to helping the organization tell its story so we see more and more survivors,” says Ellinport.
Liz Davey has over 16 years of fundraising and development experience in both nonprofit and higher education settings. She previously served as a State Vice President with the American Cancer Society for the National Capital area where she oversaw all operations. She also worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs serving Wake County (NC), Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Carnegie Mellon University. “I can’t imagine a more important cause to stand behind,” says Davey, “I am excited to work with Prevent Cancer staff on raising funds for and promoting our message of cancer prevention and early detection.”
