MTV Jackass’s Steve-O to Speak at Pasadena Recovery Center
Pasadena, California (PRWEB) June 09, 2014 -- Pasadena Recovery Center is pleased to welcome MTV’s stuntman and star of the well-known Jackass series Steve-O to their groundbreaking speaker series on Tuesday June 17th at 12pm. Steve-O’s on-camera antics with Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass crew have entertained audiences for the past 10 years and counting. In 2006, Steve-O publicly struggled with addiction. He shared these dark days and his struggle for sobriety in the MTV documentary Steve-O: Demise and Rise, which aired in 2009. Today, Steve-O is living a clean and sober lifestyle and is sharing his story at Pasadena Recovery Center’s speaker series. Mackenzie Phillips, actress and Treatment and Recovery Advocate at Pasadena Recovery Center, will be introducing Steve-O, and following the talk there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
"We are both honored and excited to have Steve-O as our featured guest for this month's speaker series," said Phillips.
Pasadena Recovery Center Speaker Series hosts amazing authors, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and experts to talk about their personal experiences with addiction and the way it has affected both themselves and the people around them.
The world met Steve-O when MTV aired the first season of Jackass in 2000. In 2001, Steve-O launched his own “Steve-O Don’t Try This At Home Tour”, establishing himself as an accomplished stage performer, at venues throughout the U.S. and in a dozen countries. When the Jackass TV series ended in 2002, the team moved on to Jackass: The Movie, released by Paramount in October of that year. Shortly thereafter, Steve-O and fellow Jackass alum, Chris Pontius, were given a spin-off show entitled Wildboyz, which aired on MTV and MTV2 and lasted four seasons. In 2006, Paramount released Jackass: Number 2 in theatres and Steve-O continued to thrill audiences with his outrageous stunts. Steve-O went on to compete on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and returned for Jackass: 3D which turned out to be a major box-office hit. In 2011 Steve-O released his autobiography, Professional Idiot: A Memoir, with publisher Hyperion Books.
