Red Book Connect Announces #Tipworthy Contest Winner
(PRWEB) June 06, 2014 -- DALLAS - Marcos Sahagun thought his Saturday lunch shift would be like every other shift he worked as a server and bartender at the Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Chula Vista, Calif. Little did he know he was about to be named the winner of Red Book Connect’s first annual #Tipworthy contest, created to recognize the hardworking, front line employees in the restaurant industry. Sahagun was surprised with a camera crew, balloons and a cash prize as he walked in for his shift. He will be featured in social media and on http://www.redbookconnect.com to encourage participation in Red Book Connect’s #Tipworthy movement.
Red Book Connect, a global mobile solutions provider for the restaurant industry, created the #Tipworthy movement in January to recognize and reward restaurant servers, bartenders and hosts who provide outstanding service. The #Tipworthy contest grew out of the initial effort as a way to reward one of the outstanding hourly restaurant employees. Nominations were received from all over the U.S. and the winner was announced at Summer Brand Camp, on June 5th in Dallas, one of the industry’s premier events focused on the restaurant workplace.
Marcos was nominated by Daisy Moreno, a co-worker who has also worked with him at prior jobs. “Marcos is inspiring to me because he works two jobs and hardly ever has time for himself,” said Daisy. “Despite his long days and hours on his feet, he never complains, and he says he is blessed to have two jobs when some people can't even find one. He makes every guest feel special and even goes out of his way to spark up some kind of conversation with every table. His excellent service always remains consistent.”
“We are thrilled that Marcos won the first #Tipworthy contest. He represents the epitome of what makes a great server - appreciation, service-oriented and dedicated,” said Kristi Turner, senior vice president of Marketing at Red Book Connect. “The #Tipworthy movement and contest are all about rewarding those who serve others and is our way of giving back to this amazing industry that we serve. We simply wanted to give those who fill our drinks and take our orders and go beyond the call of duty a little love and recognition. Marcos was chosen from the top 60 nominations that came in from all over the country – from guests, co-workers and managers – all honoring those who provide outstanding service. We hope everyone will join the #Tipworthy movement and give a little recognition to all the great servers in the industry.”
Anyone can participate in #Tipworthy and there are several ways to get involved, including:
• Follow the hashtag #Tipworthy on your preferred social media platform and interact with people who are using it. Share their stories with your network and give them a personal word of encouragement or a thank you for their recognition of the men and women of the service industry.
• Take time to recognize #Tipworthy service when you are eating out, not just with a tip but also with something out of the ordinary. Send a note of thanks, talk with their manager to ensure their service is recognized, or tell them that you actually will complete the customer service survey and that you’ll mention their name positively when you do. Above all, make sure they know that you appreciate their #Tipworthy level of service.
• Tell Red Book Connect your #Tipworthy story by posting directly to any Red Book Connect or HotSchedules social media platform.
