Greenberg Traurig’s Enrique Conde Moderates Panel Discussion at Council of Americas’ 2014 Latin American Cities Conference in Mexico City
MIAMI (PRWEB) June 05, 2014 -- Enrique A. Conde, a shareholder in the Corporate & Securities Practice at the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, served as a moderator of a recent panel discussion titled, “Media, Telecommunications, and the Telecom Infrastructure,” at the Council of Americas’ 2014 Latin American Cities Conference in Mexico City.
Panelists discussed the impacts of the Mexican Telecom Reform, specifically addressing the impact on foreign direct investment, the long-term results of the reform and the implications for the infrastructure and development of Mexico City. The panel included noted thought-leaders, executives, and elected officials including: Miguel Calderón Lelo de Larrea, Vice President of Regulation, Telefónica Mexico; Adriana Labardini Inzunza, Commissioner, Ifetel; and Irene Levy, President, Observatel.
The conference addressed Mexico’s current domestic and international opportunities after the passing of energy, education, telecommunications, banking and fiscal reforms, which aim to boost the country’s growth through agreements and partnerships. Specifically, panelists discussed varied issues relating to the growth of Mexico City, including the construction sector in recovery, increased demand from the United States, and government deficit targets.
“After the long-awaited passing of reforms last year in a variety of industries, including significantly in the Telecommunications sector, this year will certainly prove to be a turning point for Mexico,” Conde said. “I was honored to lead this discussion addressing the implications of the Mexican Telecom Reform for the future landscape of Mexico City alongside some of the leaders who are helping transform this global hub.”
