Chicago-Kent College of Law Alumni and Students to Participate in the The Right Profile's Study of Attorney Traits
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 09, 2014 -- IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law alumni and students will be participating in the Sheffield Attorney Trait Assessment & Profile Study sponsored by The Right Profile, a pioneer in assessing candidate-organizational fit through scientifically validated psychometric instruments, and JD Match, the first truly 21st-Century legal recruiting platform. The firms are offering the assessment at no cost to all participants at http://www.attorneyassessment.com so that practicing attorneys and law students alike can take part.

Chicago-Kent will provide background on the study and a link to take part in its June alumni newsletter and in its fall communication to students. Upon completion of the 15-20 minute assessment at http://www.attorneyassesment.com, each participant will immediately receive a detailed report that profiles that individual’s distinctive characteristics in the traits that are most important to practicing law, and how he or she compares to the collective norm of all attorneys across the country that have taken part in the study. The individual can use these results to understand his or her own strengths and how to better leverage them. All data will be aggregated anonymously in the study, with no identifying individual characteristics. To date, more than 1200 attorneys have taken part in the study, making it one of the largest lawyer personality studies ever conducted.
Although technology in the legal industry has made huge progress in the last ten years to increase the efficiency of legal research, litigation and document assembly, the human side – how law students determine their practice areas, how firms recruit, mentor and retain attorneys, and even how college students answer the simple question of “should I go to law school?” – has changed little in the past 40 years. This lack of focus on the human side results in a huge cost to attorneys, law firms and their clients - 46% of new associates are gone within their first three years at a firm, with many leaving the practice of law altogether. Lateral partners see similar turnover rates, but at much higher costs to the law firm, and clients see disruptions as their service providers move throughout the industry.
