CMCI Awarded Contract with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to Provide Infrastructure Support Services
Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) June 08, 2014 -- CMCI has been awarded a contract to provide Infrastructure Engineering and Infrastructure Administration Services support for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Cargo Systems Program Directorate (CSPD). CMCI will complete development of new features and transition existing legacy applications to a commodity-based collective of cargo applications. CMCI’s strategy will enable the deployment of solutions that reduce costs, streamline processes and improve agility, extensibility, reliability, and scalability.
CSPD maintains multiple systems supporting cargo processing, such as the Automated Commercial System (ACS) and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). These systems enable automation for the nation’s import workflow and duty collection processes. ACE was developed to support the modernized processing of cargo and to replace the legacy mainframe based ACS.
CMCI is uniquely qualified to deliver these services. CMCI developed and defined CBP’s Enterprise Technical Architecture; developed, implemented, and delivered the Automated Commercial System (ACS); and CMCI is currently developing, implementing, and delivering ACS’s successor, the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
CBP is the largest federal law enforcement agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security charged with regulating and facilitating international trade, collecting import duties, and enforcing U.S. regulations, including trade, customs, and immigration. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and their weapons out of the U.S. while facilitating lawful international travel and trade. As the world's first full-service border entity, CBP takes a comprehensive approach to border management and control, combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

CMCI is also developing and implementing policy frameworks, technical architectures, and bridging siloed databases to improve information sharing and collaboration among federal, state, and local government agencies.
