Tampa Ready to Celebrate Again!
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- 41 years after Tampa celebrated the NFL approval for the Tampa Bay Bucs, Tampa is proud to announce open registration for the 26.2 mile marathon on November 15th where thousands will run through the streets of Tampa for the benefit of adoptive families and orphans around the world. Runners will have 3 options: a Full Marathon (26.2mi), Half Marathon (13.1mi), and the Kids Fun Run. To register, runners need to log onto: [Tampa Registration.
The race course starts at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, (home of the Stanley Cup winning Tampa Bay Lightning), crosses the bridge to Davis Islands before traveling Bayshore Blvd along the waters of the famed Tampa Bay. Not since the Buccaneers played their first game in 1976 has there been so much excitement over a one day special event.
Around the world there are over 160 million orphans longing for a family and more than 20,000 in the Florida foster care system alone. Today, the average domestic or international adoption costs $30,000. Because of the extreme cost of adoption, the seed for Chosen was planted at the start line of another race. Founder Jenni Lord, herself an active marathon runner, said, “I just couldn’t imagine sacrificing to train for another marathon unless I was doing it for something I believe in. As a result I created Chosen for thousands of us to compete for someone else's victory. We love it.”
The Chosen race began in 2010 and continues to grow year after year bringing in runners from 28 states and 4 different countries. 100% of the proceeds will go to adoptive families and meet the needs of orphans. The heart that drives these Chosen teams is simple—to bring orphans out of darkness.
The Tampa race will be Boston sanctioned, and supported by professional runners, Ryan and Sara Hall. In addition to the November 15th marathon in Tampa, the non-profit organization will sponsor runs in central Texas, Charlotte, and Salt Lake City during 2014. See Chosen Marathon for more details.
