New York, NY (PRWEB) June 09, 2014
ONE World Sports will exclusively telecast the historic Saturday, June 14th showdown between the New York City area’s two professional soccer teams – the Red Bulls of Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Cosmos of the North American Soccer League (NASL).
ONE World Sports’ telecast of the first intercity professional soccer rivalry kicks off at 8:30 p.m, live from Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. The network’s on-air talent for the telecast features three of the foremost soccer commentators: Steve Cangialosi, primary television play-by-play announcer for the New Jersey Devils on MSG Plus and the Red Bulls on the MSG Network and 98.7 ESPN New York, will call play-by-play; and Janusz Michallik, a veteran of the U.S. National Team and 10 U.S. indoor and outdoor soccer teams, and legendary former Cosmos goalkeeper Shep Messing will provide analysis.
ONE World Sports is the television home of the Cosmos, who “rebooted” last year after a three-decade hiatus, going on to win the NASL and to become the only New York City professional sports team to achieve a 2013 championship.
“Just like the Yankees and the Mets, and the Giants and Jets, New York City fans relish the chance to face their cross-town nemeses -- especially when it’s the first time that the two teams have ever faced each other,” said Alexander “Sandy” Brown, president and CEO of ONE World Sports. “This will be must-viewing for any New York-area soccer fans.”
In the New York area, ONE World Sports can be seen on Cablevision Optimum TV Channel 1159, Dish Network Channel 9794 and Verizon FiOS Channel 309.
