Lumetrics and BZCon of Korea Create Suite of New Metrology Products
(PRWEB) June 10, 2014 -- This month, Lumetrics announced its newest suite of products tailored to the Asian market that were developed by Korean partner, BZCon who has incorporated the Lumetrics® OptiGauge™ precision measurement system into solutions for the latest smart phones, tablets and other consumer electronics.
The application for the electronics industry centers on measuring the glass thickness for cell phones, tablets, computers, and televisions, all of which have thin glass screens. Much of this glass is thinned using a process that incorporates dangerous chemicals. Customers were looking for an alternative way to measure the glass during the slimming process without having to stop and restart the process. By using the Lumetrics® OptiGauge™ BZCon was able to design a process that improved throughput by as much as 35%. “We designed a system that measures continuously in an extremely harsh environment,” said B.K. Choi, President and founder of BZCon, “Our customer had an urgent need to increase production without building more infrastructure, and we designed a system that was both more efficient and much safer for the workers.”
Lumetrics and BZCon have worked on a number of custom applications over the years with glass applications being especially important due to the explosion of sales of smart phones, tablets, computers and televisions. “We have many systems in the glass industry already, from float glass, to windshields, to thin glass,” John Hart, Lumetrics CEO said, “Our patented technology continues to support some of the largest electronics providers in the world.”
