Dialogic Inc., the Network Fuel® company, today announced that its BorderNet Diameter Services Helix is equipped to meet the future industry demand cited in the Heavy Reading white paper, “Control Plane Orchestration: the Evolution of Service Innovation Attributes.” The white paper outlines the evolution of the Diameter signaling controller (DSC) toward supporting more advanced translation capabilities, as well as network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN).

“There is a high degree of interest in leveraging protocols such as Diameter in more innovative ways to drive the next phases of service innovation and ultimately create a service-agnostic orchestration layer,” said Jim Hodges, senior analyst at Heavy Reading and the author of the white paper.

Hodges’ white paper describes the evolutionary phases that Diameter nodes, specifically centralized DSCs, play in this new world directive. The report reveals a dramatic shift from a traditional session setup-and-teardown model to one that is capable of managing and interworking service orchestration in real time.

“Our vision for Helix has always been more than just a Diameter routing agent. From the beginning, we wanted to capitalize on more than 20 years of our rich mobile signaling interworking history, which is why we built Helix to support Diameter to MAP, Diameter to RADIUS and Diameter to LDAP,” said Kevin Cook, president and CEO of Dialogic. “If your current DSC does not meet these needs, we can help you today. We are continuing on our path to virtualize all of our strategic products. They are either software-based now, or run on COTS platforms. Helix is no exception and we fully plan to enable this as a virtualized network function.”

Derek Podgorni, Dialogic’s senior director of product management, will be speaking about the future of DSC at the upcoming LTE World Summit in Amsterdam on Monday, June 23 at 12:40 p.m. To schedule a meeting with Derek at the LTE World Summit, or for more information about Dialogic’s BorderNet Diameter Service Helix, contact our sales team at sales(at)dialogic(dot)com.
