Yamaha Awards New Scholarship to Honor 10 Year Anniversary With Pulse Percussion Ensemble
Buena Park, CA (PRWEB) June 10, 2014 -- Yamaha honored its ten-year relationship with Pulse Percussion Ensemble by awarding its first $500 scholarship at the organization’s Tenth Anniversary Preview Show. Prichard Pearce, a music education major at California State University, Long Beach and a fourth year cymbal player with the Ensemble, received the inaugural scholarship.
“No member is more deserving of this tremendous honor than Prichard, as he constantly sacrifices for the ensemble and performs above and beyond the call of duty,” said Matthew Lackey, executive director, Pulse Percussion Ensemble.
In addition to possessing outstanding dedication and selflessness, scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a college or university and be majoring in music performance, music education, music business or other applicable area of music study. They are also required to demonstrate the qualities of leadership and good citizenship.
Consisting of Southern California students ages 16-22, Pulse Percussion Ensemble aims to instill confidence, personal achievement and dedication through percussive arts. The high standards set by this award-winning group teaches its members to strive for excellence, which in turn builds important life skills, including a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. Pulse has placed as World Percussion finalists every year since its inception, and holds medals from both local and world championships.
“Pulse Percussion’s relationship with Yamaha allows us to offer the best percussion experience to our members, staff and supporters,” said Lackey. “The Yamaha scholarship strengthens our family by encouraging members to pursue excellence on and off the floor. Pulse Percussion is honored to call Yamaha a member of the family.”
