Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Performance Center To Host Coaches Seminar In Newport News
Newport News, Va. (PRWEB) June 10, 2014 -- Calling all coaches looking to prepare their athletes for success next season on their fields and courts of play!
Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Newport News Performance Center will host a daylong seminar for high school and college coaches of all sports June 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The seminar, free to attend, will combine lectures from sports medicine providers and performance trainers with hands on training.
The sessions in the seminar include the following:
Dynamic Warm-Up:
How to Prepare Your Athletes for Success
Led by Physical Therapist and Sports Director Mike Satterley, PT, DPT, CIMT, CSCS and Performance Director Katie Benick, MS, CSCS. They will introduce the components of an effective warm-up. Dr. Satterley will discuss the different forms of stretching and when to use each type. Performance Director Katie Benick will give practical demonstrations of various warm-up techniques and how to properly implement them before practices and games.
ACL Injury Prevention:
The Importance of Jump Training
Led by Physical Therapist and ACL Specialist Samantha Davis, PT, DPT. They will discuss the latest research concerning Sportsmetrics and the importance of jump training. Performance Coach Ruth Middleton, CSCS will introduce jump and landing mechanics and the practical application of jump training.
Speed and Agility Training: Make the Most of Your Conditioning Sessions
Led by Performance Coaches Will Blaber, BS, CSCS and Jamel Cooper, BS, CSCS, who will discuss the best way to condition your athletes through speed and agility training exercise. Learn how to properly teach running mechanics and change of direction techniques to your athletes. Coach Blaber will also give hands on demonstrations of essential drills to include in your practice sessions.
