Transaction Wireless, the pioneer and global leader in providing electronic, mobile, social and traditional plastic B2C and B2B gift cards via their patented enterprise technology platform has seen a spike in sales across merchants this spring shopping season.

“The spring shopping season is in full swing with Father’s Day and Graduations likely to be the second busiest shopping season of the year,” says Thomas Niedbalski, Senior Vice President of Business and Client Development, Transaction Wireless. He continues, “Whether consumers are looking for the perfect gift for a new graduate or want to show Dad how much he’s loved and appreciated, our merchant’s gift cards are always the practical gift and our digital gift cards are sure to arrive on time.”

“Our merchants have chosen our patented, robust platform to enhance their consumer experience, create additional brand loyalty and increase sales,” Mr. Niedbalski explains. “It goes above and beyond simple gift giving - our goal is to create customer focused experiences for our merchants through features that benefit the purchaser, the recipient and the merchant; by driving loyalty and creating cherished memories with personal photos and voice messages to accompany the gift.”

A new forecast just released from BrandKeys indicates that spending is up about 7% for dads this year - with consumers expected to spend about $145 on Dad. Of those consumers, 45% of dads will receive a gift card this year.

New data released from the The Retail Gift Card Association finds about 21% of consumers offered Mom gift cards to restaurants for Mother’s Day while 23% say they’ll give Dad a home improvement store gift card for Father’s Day.

According to NRF’s 2013 Father’s Day spending survey conducted by BIGinsight, the average person will shell out $119.84 on Dad’s gifts this year, up from $117.14 last year. Total spending for Father’s Day is expected to reach $13.3 billion. Dad can also expect plenty of gift cards; families will shell out $1.8 billion on the perfect practical gift.

For that special graduate, 88.8 percent of graduation gifts in 2013 were either money or gift cards. The Federation estimated total graduation gift spending last year at about $4.7 billion.

With Dads and Grads just around the corner, some of our merchants are helping shoppers create memorable moments by offering great deals online:

Applebee’s - Purchase a $50 gift card and receive a $10 digital gift card

Red Robin - Purchase a $25 limited edition Hercules gift card and get a free movie ticket plus a chance to win a trip to L.A.

Regardless of the study, it’s clear that gift cards remain a popular choice for gift giving for consumers because of the variety of options, convenience and flexibility.
