Texas Renaissance Festival Lures Internationally Renowned Artist Real Musgrave Back to Celebrate 40th Anniversary
Todd Mission, Texas (PRWEB) June 11, 2014 -- The Texas Renaissance Festival will welcome the return of internationally renowned guest artist Real Musgrave, the creator of Pocket Dragons and former Official Artist to the grounds for their 40th Anniversary season this October and November.
Well known for his whimsical Pocket Dragon sculptures, one of the most successful and beloved collectibles around the world, and his animated TV series, “Pocket Dragon Adventures”, which aired in over 60 countries, Musgrave is now retired in Flower Mound, Texas after all his globetrotting.
This season, festival organizers welcome Musgrave back to design the souvenirs that will serve as collectables for the 40th anniversary of Texas Renaissance Festival, including the official festival poster, program cover, tankard, T-shirts and commemorative coin. The commemorative poster of the 40th Anniversary event, completed this month, harkens back to a favorite earlier design for the Eighth Annual event back in 1982. The poster now incorporates a retired wizard in shining armor and his beautiful fairy princess riding to the festival on the back of a rearing “Texas-sized” armadillo. Of course, the popular Pocket Dragons make an appearance as well.
“The Texas Renaissance Festival has enjoyed a long partnership with Real Musgrave, and that is why we are honored to bring him back to add to our 40th Anniversary season with his unforgettable art form,” says Terre Albert, general manager of the Texas Renaissance Festival.
Real and Muff Musgrave will donate all proceeds to the Humane Society of Flower Mound “Flower's Fund”, named in honor of Real and Muff’s little dog, Flower, who was the inspiration behind Pocket Dragons and Musgrave’s resulting illustrious career.
“Many people feel they knew our dog, Flower, because they see her sweet, loving, mischievous nature in the bright eyes of all Pocket Dragons. Most of my art derives from the way I believe she viewed the world, her lively expressions and funny moments that I took directly from Flower and her successors,” says Musgrave. “I owe my career to her. Muff and I are proud to continue doing something in Flower’s memory as we return to the Texas Renaissance Festival to celebrate this monumental occasion.”
Real Musgrave will make an appearance during Opening Weekend, Oct. 11-12, 2014, to sign posters and other Renaissance Festival and Pocket Dragon memorabilia that will be on sale inside the festival.
“I loved the festival. It's where I learned how to survive signing thousands of autographs,” he laughs. “I just had to be part of the 40th Anniversary! And now I can also help the animal charity that means so much to me.”
The 40th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival will take place over eight exciting weekends from Saturday, October 11 through November 30, 2014. Each weekend, a different theme comes to life across the 55-acre festival grounds. A major addition to the 40th anniversary celebration is the King Midas Masquerade Ball to be held every Saturday during the festival.
