La Paloma Academy-South Sets Enrollathon, June 11-13
Tucson, Arizona (PRWEB) June 13, 2014 -- La Paloma Academy South, located at 5660 S. 12th Ave. near Drexel Road, invites families to a fun three-day Enrollathon starting Wednesday, June 11th.
Complimentary food, fun and games will be on hand for children, allowing parents time to tour the school, chat with school staff, and learn about La Paloma Academy’s tuition-free private school environment.
Times and dates for the Enrollathon are:
• Wednesday, June 11, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Thursday, June 12, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Friday, June 13, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Enrollment is simple. All students who apply are accepted, as long as there are openings in the child’s grade level. Parents are asked to bring the following required records to enroll their child at the event:
• Child’s birth certificate
• Child’s immunization records
• Emergency medical & first-aid form
New students who are enrolled in the three-day event will receive a La Paloma Academy Frisbee to welcome them.
With public school options decreasing, charter schools provide parents a much-needed option for their children in grades K-8. La Paloma offers a character-based curriculum, full-day kindergarten, before- and after-school care and a breakfast program, all without charge.
Established by popular request from Tucson parents, La Paloma Academy South opened in August 2012 and has just completed its second school year. It features 22 classrooms, two computer labs, a library and multi-purpose rooms, plus basketball courts, playground equipment and playing fields.
“Our goal has always been to build a solid foundation for every child,” said Founder and Charterholder Raena Janes. “That’s why we’re thrilled that our South Campus has met this goal for even more families in the City of Tucson. The south side of Tucson requested a campus for some time, and I’m proud it has been an educational success.”
Paul Bummer, an Arizona Certified principal who started working for La Paloma Academy in 2009, is the South Campus’s principal. A native Arizonan, Bummer has lived in Tucson for four years, previously serving as an assistant principal and ELL (English Language Learner) teacher. He has also worked for the Marana Unified School District and spent 18 years teaching physical education, health and other subjects in Phoenix.
