Oxnard, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2014
Two of the best cosmetic dentists in the world are urging those who are having extensive dental trouble to start their road to a better smile with a prosthodontist.
Dr. Saj Jivraj and Dr. Mamaly Reshad of the Anacapa Dental Art Institute in Oxnard and Woodland Hills, Calif., want to educate the public on the role prosthodontists play as quarterback of a patient’s dental team.
“Having a specialist diagnose the condition of your mouth ensures that all treatment is handled and your mouth will be restored with the highest possible standard of care, leading to a more natural and longer-lasting result,” Dr. Jivraj said.
As two of only a few specialists in the profession, Dr. Jivraj and Dr. Reshad perform procedures that may be beyond the specialization of general dentists. A prosthodontist often works with a team of dental professionals to create a comprehensive treatment plan for patients. Prosthodontists are dedicated to the highest standards of care in the restoration and replacement of teeth including implants, dentures, bridges, crowns/caps, teeth whitening methods and veneers.
“Complex dental treatment often requires several procedures,” Dr. Reshad said. “Before restoring a missing tooth, for example, gum problems and misalignment issues also need to be treated. A prosthodontist should help you select the best course of treatment for your condition.”
To help the public better understand the importance of prosthodontists, Dr. Jivraj and Dr. Reshad offer these three tips:
Tip 1. You should see a prosthodontist if:
“Many factors contribute to losing your teeth; some people are born without certain teeth, and some lose their teeth because of disease, injury and wear caused by clenching or grinding,” Dr. Jivraj said. “Tooth loss creates both aesthetic and functional problems, hurting your chewing ability, confidence and self‐esteem, and even causing unwanted changes to your facial appearance. A prosthodontist is uniquely qualified to restore the appearance of your smile and help you regain optimum function of your teeth.”
Tip 2. Less than 2 percent of all dentists are prosthodontists.
“A prosthodontist receives two to three years of further training after dental school at an American Dental Association-accredited institution,” Dr. Jivraj said. “The program focuses on treating damaged and missing teeth and correcting less than ideal smiles using several treatment methods. Additional education and training make prosthodontists the masters of mouth rehabilitation.”
Tip 3. Prosthodontists look at a wide range of factors when recommending solutions.
Prosthodontists are trained to enhance the aesthetic and comfort of dental restorations with the latest materials and techniques. For example, when considering an aesthetic replacement for a missing tooth, a prosthodontist will factor in condition of adjacent teeth; your facial form, length and position of your lip; and the overall condition of your mouth and your general health.
Both Dr. Jivraj and Dr. Reshad completed three years of Advanced Prosthodontic training at the University of Southern California. They have the training and 20 years’ experience to diagnose and treat underlying problems as part of an overall dental treatment program
