Center for Discovery and Project HEAL to Partner in Providing Eating Disorder Treatment
New York City, NY (PRWEB) June 11, 2014 -- Center for Discovery, a national leader in adolescent and teen eating disorder treatment, is pleased to announce its recent collaboration with Project HEAL on an initiative to provide residential eating disorder treatment for children, adolescents and teens through a grant program. Center for Discovery, understanding the complexity and severity of eating disorders, as well as the importance of treatment, is partnering with Project HEAL to provide grants to adolescents that might not be able to afford treatment otherwise. These grants will be for teens and adolescents to receive residential eating disorder treatment at one of Center for Discovery’s residential locations in Chicago, Illinois or Fairfax, Virginia.
Through this collaborative effort, Project HEAL and Center for Discovery hope to build a better understanding and awareness about eating disorders and the importance of treatment. Together, Project Heal and Center for Discovery will be able to reach out to and provide critical treatment to families in dire need.
“As a long-standing leader in the adolescent eating disorder community, we are happy to take this opportunity to give back,” said Dr. Craig Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Center for Discovery. “These grants will help us reach a new group of adolescents and teens with eating disorders and help them on their path to recovery.”
Center for Discovery has been providing effective treatment for teens and adolescents with eating disorders for over 17 years in locations throughout the United States. Center for Discovery’s adolescent eating disorder programs are dedicated to treating teens and adolescents who are struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorders or other disordered eating. The treatment is intensive and personalized for each resident. Center for Discovery is extremely effective at understanding and addressing the underlying emotional issues and destructive behaviors related to eating disorders.
Center for Discovery’s residential treatment is provided in home-like treatment centers located in residential neighborhoods. Treatment is provided for a small number of residents at one time in order to maintain an intimate setting and a low resident-to-staff ratio. Treatment within a residential neighborhood also allows residents to feel more comfortable in a familiar surrounding and provides greater internalization and transferability of the treatment experience to life after treatment.
