It took a Columbia County jury 37 minutes Wednesday morning to return a not-guilty verdict in connection with the stabbing of an off-duty Richmond County Deputy.

The trial in the case of State of Georgia v. Charles Robert Smith, Columbia County Case Number: 2012-CR-1293 began Monday morning at the Columbia County Justice Center. Harlem resident, Charles Robert Smith was charged with aggravated assault following an October 8, 2012 confrontation with Richmond County Deputy, Kevin Harrell.
