School Bus Injury Lawyer Adnan Munawar Comments Queens School Bus Accident
(PRWEB) June 11, 2014 -- CBS News is reporting that a school bus has crashed in Queens. (CBS 2: Queens School Bus Crash Leaves 7 Children, 1 Adult Injured, May 20, 2014). Seven children and one adult were injured Monday afternoon when the school bus slammed into a pole in Bellerose, Queens. The crash happened around 4:15 pm at Braddock and Hillside avenues in Queens, according to the report.
Local news had a helicopter at the scene of the accident. The New York Fire Department’s EMS told CBS about the people who suffered injuries. According to authorities, none of the injuries is considered life threatening and the adult suffered the must serious injuries. Police are investigating the accident and have released no further details.
“There is not much scarier news for a parent than to hear their son or daughter has been in an accident,” said Adnan Munawar, Partner at Munawar & Andrews-Santillo LLP. “When parents send their kids off to school, they do so with the understanding that they will return home safely, unharmed. When that trust is breached, there is little comfort to offer. Thankfully, it seems all of the children are OK and hopefully the adult will have a full recovery. It is way too early to make any conclusions about this incident, but no matter what the outcome it is always especially hard when kids are involved.”
“When accidents like these happen, it may be hard to know what to do, especially when you are concerned for the welfare of your child. However, it is important to take action right away as the further away in time you get from an accident, the harder it can get to establish what happened. And remember, children cannot file claims on their own; a parent or guardian must take action on the child’s behalf. Also, when the accident involves a school bus, the City may be involved as a party, and that complicates matters even further. If your child or a loved one is ever in a school bus accident, you should contact an attorney immediately and find out what your options are under the law. You only ever pay a fee if you win and the consultation is free, so there is no harm in calling. While you care for your child, let an attorney look out for your rights and get you the compensation you deserve.”
