Online travel agency,, announced Friday that its corporate campus will be a tobacco-free workplace starting August 1, 2014. The tobacco-free policy will also extend to any land, buildings, structures, parking lots and means of transportation owned by or leased to the company. currently offers its employees the resources and support necessary for smoking cessation, but beginning August 1, all forms of smoked and smokeless tobacco will be prohibited at the company’s corporate office in Panama City Beach, Florida, as well as the company’s satellite office in Maitland, Florida. For team members, this tobacco-free policy also applies to corporate trips and visits to customer property where staff members engage in business. This is just one step that the company is taking to support its “Book It to Health & Financial Wellness” program.

“In conjunction with 2014 BookIt to Wellness, we have made several changes in our company with a goal of healthier choices for team members. One of those changes will be a tobacco-free workplace,” said Sue Meritt,’s Vice President of Operations. “Our goal as a company is to provide a safe and healthy workplace and help our team members live a healthy lifestyle.”

For the time being, the company plans to continue allowing the use of electronic cigarettes in their corporate office’s outdoor smoking lounge area.’s “Book It to Health & Financial Wellness” program is supported by a team of “Wellness Ambassadors,” whose duty it is to promote health and financial wellness amongst their peers, and to recognize individual and departmental efforts to create a healthier workplace. These team members attend monthly meetings to identify the questions, concerns and suggestions that must be addressed in order to encourage the staff to take steps toward leading a healthier lifestyle and improve their financial wellbeing over time.

Other steps that the company has taken to promote healthy lifestyle changes include “Commit to Fit” summer health screenings, swapping sugary sodas out in their break room for healthier beverage options, and ordering team member and anniversary lunches from more health-conscious restaurants.
