Eilers Research Announces New Slots & Tables Install Base Report
(PRWEB) June 12, 2014 -- Despite the reduction of some slot floors in competitive gaming markets, the overall number of slot machines in North America continues to rise, according to Todd Eilers of Eilers Research.
The total number of slot machines in operation in North America last year rose 2 percent to 978,142 installed games, Eilers said in his new report, the Slots & Tables Installed Base report.
Rises in the number of slots last year was driven by growth in the slot route business, the expansion of VLTs in Illinois and steady gains in Indian casinos in California, Oklahoma, Arizona, Alabama and Florida, he continued.
At the end of the first quarter 2014, Eilers estimates the install base of slot machines is up 1.2 percent year-over-year thanks to further casino expansion in Florida and Ohio, offset by slot reduction in New Jersey, Louisiana, Mississippi and West Virginia.
By the end of 2014, he forecasts the total North American slot install base will rise 1.6 percent over 2013 to 993,783 games, driven by the continued growth of VLTs in Illinois, along with new casino openings in Ohio, Maryland and Louisiana.
Eilers also forecasts that slot install base will surpass one million games in 2015, rising 1.9 percent that year to 1.013 million games.
Eilers Research will publish the Eilers Slots & Tables Install Base report quarterly going forward.
