New Orleans, Louisiana (PRWEB) June 13, 2014 -- In a city famous for its festivals, the eighth annual Festival de San Fermin is cause for celebration. As the preferred hotel partner of the Festival de San Fermin, also known as the Running of the Bulls, the New Orleans Hotel Collection has created a very special Spanish Wine Dinner to celebrate the start of the festival on the Thursday prior to the now famous Saturday morning run.
Featuring wines of the celebrated winery Marques de Caceres Vineyard of Rioja, Spain, this four course dinner will be held on Thursday, July 10 at the Cardinal Room of the Collection’s highly rated Hotel Mazarin, located at 730 Rue Bienville in the French Quarter.
A special guest of the evening will be Governor Bernardo de Galvez, ruling governor of the Spanish territory from 1777 to 1785. A cocktail mixer will start at 6pm, with dinner at 7:00pm. Guests are offered reduced price valet parking at the hotel entrance. As an added treat, flamenco guitar music will be provided throughout the evening by acclaimed Brazilian musician Riccardo Crespo.
Guests of the dinner are encouraged to wear the traditional garb of the Festival participants: all-white cotton or linen “pantelones,” white shirt, and brilliant red sash. All manner of red and white will be accepted at this dinner, however.
Four wines specially selected to complement the four course dinner will be served, ending with a Wares King’s Tawny Port from the Douro Valley of Portugal. The special price for the four course dinner, wines, service and gratuities is $98 per person. The dinner will help raise funds for the support of the Running of the Bulls festival, and the 501C(3) animal charities that the organization supports.
Chef Agnes Bellet, a native of France who has prepared award winning meals at the hotel's Louis the XIV Restaurant, has designed a delectable menu offering a true taste of Spain in celebration of the Festival. The highlight of the four course menu will be the “pollo chilindron con patatas fritas y minestra”, a hearty dish of sauteed chicken with Spanish paprika, red bell pepper, fried potatoes and medley of baby vegetables. This hearty dish is designed to give runners the fortitude needed for the upcoming race. Generous applications of the evening’s wine also contribute to the rigorous training the runners endure.
