Lovestruck.com is proud to announce its involvement and contribution as one of the founder members of the Online Dating Association (ODA), set up to ensure high standards of behaviour by dating service providers serving the UK.
Other ODA founder members include Match, eHarmony, MySingleFriend and Guardian Soulmates.
Lovestruck co-founder, Laurence Holloway, has been personally involved in the formation of the ODA. Holloway said: "We've really enjoyed working with the other premium brands in the industry, both large and small, and will continue to participate long into the future. We are delighted that we were all able to work together with a clear and common vision to put together a Code of Conduct to protect our industry against poor practices and uphold the highest standards – we are targeting specific behaviour that erodes consumer confidence and trust in online dating providers."
In an interview with one of the dating industry's leading editorial news service Global Dating Insights, The ODA's Chief Executive George Kidd said that demand within the industry for such a body had been brewing for some time.
He said: “Online dating is part of everyday life and, when you get to that level of ubiquity, it is right that an industry starts to say that we should take responsibility for our futures."
These principles are set out in the Code of Conduct, which details policy regarding honest and clear communications, consumer protection and data privacy.
Workshops are also planned this year, including changes in consumer laws and data security.
