Cruise Voyant's Online Booking Engine Will Soon Show Updated Itineraries

“We believe that expanding the Port of Miami and Port Everglades will not only open more opportunities for cruises, but for the cities of Miami and Fort Lauderdale as well,” says Brenda Sigurdson, Senior Marketing Director for Cruise Voyant.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) June 16, 2014

Cruise Voyant, an online cruise agency, has thoroughly researched news on the Panama Canal Expansion and changes the Port of Miami will have to undergo because of it.

The port project is called “Deep Dredge” and will expand the Port of Miami’s existing depth from 42 feet to about 50-52 feet. With the completion of Deep Dredge slated for 2015, the Port of Miami will be the only port south of Norfolk, Virginia that will be able to allow large cargo vessels to travel through the Panama Canal.

Not only will the Deep Dredge project grant more accessibility for large ships, but it will also increase the Port of Miami’s annual economic impact as well as the number of jobs and cargo throughout. As it currently stands, the Port of Miami is Dade County’s second largest revenue producing sector.

Another port in Florida will be receiving a makeover as well. Port Everglades, otherwise known as Fort Lauderdale Port, will be undergoing the New Master/Vision Plan in order to enhance and expand its existing facilities. After completion, the cruise berth will be able to handle 1,100 foot ships as well as larger cruise terminals.

“We believe that expanding the Port of Miami and Port Everglades will not only open more opportunities for cruises, but for the cities of Miami and Fort Lauderdale as well,” says Brenda Sigurdson, Senior Marketing Director for Cruise Voyant. “Our web designers and cruise experts are currently researching what cruises will be impacted because of it, and will be posting itineraries shortly.”

Both projects are slated to be finished between 2014 and 2015. For more cruise itineraries, visit http://www.cruisevoyant.com/.
