Dobbs Ferry, New York (PRWEB) June 14, 2014

While most kids are hitting the pool this summer, 15 year-old Carter Kostler is learning how to grow his already thriving business at Mercy College. The tenth grader from Virginia Beach, Virginia, who was a finalist on the ABC show “Shark Tank,” is the founder of Define Bottle. Define Bottle is a bottle that allows the user to infuse their water with any fruit of their choice.

This summer Kostler will take part in Mercy College’s Summer Leadership Academy in Business, a program designed to give students a head-start on their careers in accounting, finance, marketing and entrepreneurship. Students will also visit Fortune 500 companies, including Goldman Sachs, Viacom and Bloomberg.

Kostler’s product was created to fight childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes. He said: “After learning about the statistics of how sugary drinks and soda impact today’s youth, I decided to do something about it.”

Students accepted to Mercy’s Summer Leadership Academy in Business must also demonstrate excellence in leadership and public speaking. Sessions, taught by senior business leaders, include:

  •     Know Yourself—Matching Personalities to Careers
  •     Life as a CEO—Business Strategy
  •     Creating a Million Dollar Business—Entrepreneurship
  •     Master Investors—Wall Street Careers
  •     From CIA to CFO—Accounting Careers
  •     Meaning Over Profits—Non-Profit & Social Business

Kostler said: “I am counting down the minutes to take part in Mercy’s Summer Institute in Business. I know I am going to learn valuable lessons to help me grow my business. I’m most looking forward to learning more about marketing. I also think this is a great opportunity to meet other students and make relationships that can last a lifetime.”

Define Bottle has been recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the most brilliant companies of 2013. Kostler was also a national finalist in Michelle Obama’s Partnership for a Healthier America’s End Childhood Obesity Innovation Challenge. He has also been featured in Forbes, Fortune, Entrepreneur, and local and national news publications.
