Excellims, a world leader and innovator in chemical detection by ion mobility spectrometry, announces an exciting new product - the MA3100 high performance ion mobility pre-separator for mass spectrometers. This powerful addition to Excellims’ series of top-of-the-line IMS instruments has been built to interface with multiple mass spectrometer product lines from Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The MA3100 greatly enhances mass spectrometry technology by increasing versatility, simplifying complex spectra, and allowing for targeted analysis of gas phase ions that is not always possible by mass spectrometry alone; in some cases, IMS can provide HPLC-like separation in milliseconds. The HPIMS – Orbitrap MS combination delivers ultra-high-resolution separation of complex samples in both ion mobility and m/z domains, and provides vital information about the structure and identity of molecular ions. The MA3100 is exchangeable with the current ionization sources of the MS, and when installed it will be detected and controlled by the MS software in forthcoming releases.
