Fireworks and Family Fun at Alderbrook Resort & Spa
Union, Washington (PRWEB) June 16, 2014 -- With summer in full swing in the Pacific Northwest, Alderbrook Resort & Spa is gearing up for a month full of family friendly activities and celebrations unique to the Hood Canal. From interactive culinary excursions to relaxing spa experiences, the waterfront Resort located just two hours from Seattle and two-and-a-half hours from Portland is the ideal destination for an unforgettable summer vacation or staycation. Kicking off with ‘Thunder on the Canal,’ an annual celebration of Independence Day and the local community, Resort guests and the public are invited to join in the fun. Event details include:
- Thunder on the Canal (Thursday, July 3): Join Alderbrook for the annual fireworks show! All activities will take place on July 3rd on the property’s beautiful, lush waterfront lawn beginning at 12:00 p.m., and include a BBQ & Beer Garden, chair massages, musical entertainment and annual Oyster Eating Contest, concluding with a fantastic fireworks show at 10:20 p.m. Event is complimentary to overnight guests; for all non-resort guests, admission is $5 and parking off-property is as-available.
In addition to the annual celebration of summer, Alderbrook is hosting a variety of family-friendly and special activities during July, providing a perfect opportunity for families, couples and individuals to enjoy a vibrant summer getaway. Additional events include:
Mondays in July:
- Hood Canal Boat Tour- Board the “Lady Alderbrook” by 2:00 p.m. and enjoy a scenic hour and a half cruise aboard Alderbrook’s own private yacht. Cost is $20 for adults, $15 seniors and $10 for children 10 and under. Activity is open to Resort guests and non-guests alike, reservations are required and can be made by calling (360) 898-2200 (30 person maximum capacity).
- Waterfront Painting- Relax along Alderbrook’s waterfront lawn with an easel and paintbrush in hand. Resort guests are invited to this complimentary painting class hosted by local artist Rob Kamin, where the majestic Olympic mountain range creates an inspiring backdrop for artists of all abilities and ages. All art supplies will be provided and reservations are required.
Tuesdays in July:
- Intraceuticals Spa Treatments- Indulge in mini lip plumping or eye refreshing treatments with Intraceuticals Oxygen. Available from 4:00-5:00 p.m., this activity is complimentary to overnight guests and reservations are recommended.
Wednesdays in July:

- Mussels on the Barbeque: Enjoy the mouth-watering culinary delights of summer mussels deliciously prepared on the grill. Located on the cottage lawn from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Resort guests are invited to this complimentary activity.
Thursdays in July:
- Golf with a Pro: Learn how to perfect your swing with local pros on the waterfront or cottage lawn from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Activity is complimentary and open to Resort guests only. Activity will not take place on Thursday, July 3.
Fridays in July:
- Root Beer Float Welcome Reception- Sweeten the start of a weekend getaway with a pint of root beer and locally sourced ice cream. Welcome reception will take place in the Resort lobby on Friday’s throughout July from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and is complimentary to overnight guests.
- Crabbing on the Canal- Resort guests are invited to a complimentary, informative class on crabbing along the Hood Canal. From 4:00-5:00 p.m., Alderbrook’s own crabbing experts will teach guests how to properly bait and drop a crab pot, as well as how to identify a variety of the native species. Reservations are not required.
- Live Music and Happy Hour: Enjoy the happy hour menu and live local entertainment in the Restaurant Lounge from 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.
