Thirty years after the hit TV series ‘Puttin on the Hits’ first debuted, the search is on once again. The creator of the original 80’s show announced today, show producers are looking for the very best, lip-syncing impersonators and look-a-like tribute bands across America for an all new series, America's Lip Sync Star.
Show producers encourage, clubs, bar owners, radio stations and non-profit organizations to participate by hosting the search. Participating organizations will be supplied with a detailed how-to manual, and all the materials necessary to run the audition process. Local celebrity judges and the audience will critique each contestant on their lip sync ability, use of the microphone, and look-a-like appearance of a legendary musical icon or group. Operators are encouraged to visit the web site for more information.
“It’s exciting, lip sync contests are once again gaining popularity among young adults in schools, clubs, and as fundraisers” says Wm. Randy Wood, the creator of the original show and the driving force behind the Lip Sync search. “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon once again leads the way, making popular the lip sync battle on his national show. It gives those who can’t sing the chance to be the star they always wanted to be™ and possibly be discovered as America's next Lip Sync Star.”
Winners from each audition will advance to regional and then national finals, where the top vote getters representing their cities will be selected by celebrity judges and audience text voting.
