BBC Radio 1Extra Selects Detroit Rapper Drew32 to Represent Greece in Their World Cup Freestyle Competition
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- BBC Radio’s 1Xtra, a national station in the UK for hip hop and R&B fans, handpicked rapper, record producer, and songwriter Drew32 to be one of 32 rappers in the world to participate in their 2014 World Cup Freestyle competition.
The 32 rappers, each representing one of the 32 countries participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, spit a 32-bar freestyle rhyme about their nation. Drew32, a Detroit native and Greek-American, was selected to represent Greece. He quickly put pen to pad and laid down a Greek-flavored track that not only embodies his pride in his motherland, but also captures the fierce competition of the games.
“When my manger, Mark Hicks, got an email from the BBC selecting me to represent Greece, I was honored and humbled at the same time, since I’m a proud Greek-American but not born and raised in Greece,” reflects Drew32. “I also felt, this has to be some sort of destiny - after all, 32 countries, 32 rappers, 32 bars. It’s kind of awesome.”
The track and video, which was shot in Athens, Greece premiered on BBC Radio 1Xtra on Saturday, June 14th, and will air for the duration of the games. http://bit.ly/Drew32WorldCupFreestyle
