Continuum Data Centers’ CEO, Eli D. Scher Appointed to Open-IX Data Center Standards Subcommittee
West Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- Colocation solutions provider New Continuum Holdings Corporation dba Continuum Data Centers (“Continuum”) is pleased to announce that its Chairman and CEO, Eli D. Scher has been appointed to the Open-IX (OIX) Association Data Center Standards Subcommittee. OIX is a non-profit industry group formed to promote better technical and operational standards for data center interconnection and Internet Exchanges throughout North America. Continuum’s new Tier III data center, CDC 603, was certified by the Open-IX (OIX) Association in April 2014. CDC 603 was the first data center in the Chicago region to receive certification.
“We are committed to supporting the proliferation of distributed internet exchange points,” said Eli D. Scher. “We believe this not only creates more efficient delivery of content, but creates an overall more resilient IT architecture.” He continued, “The connectivity strategy we are developing at Continuum is designed to add value to our product, and ultimately create a more conducive environment for our customers to grow.”
The OIX Association is adopting the European model in which exchange operations are spread across multiple data centers in a specific geographic market. The goal is to create a new network of Internet Exchange Points housed in multiple neutral data center facilities that allow participants to interact and exchange content.
“Eli brings the perspective of a single facility operator to the committee and that represents one of the core benefits of a rich exchange environment,” says Gabe Cole, Chair of the Data Center Subcommittee of the Open-IX Association, adding, “We look forward to both Eli’s involvement in the committee and Continuum’s support of Open-IX in the critical Chicago market.”
