Dr. Tariq Drabu Advises Parents on Fluoride Use in Children in 2014
(PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- Dr. Tariq Drabu is a leading dentist and specialist oral surgeon who was born and educated in Manchester. He was one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the UK and went on to work in busy dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Drabu completed his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Today, he owns the successful Langley Dental Practice and is also the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services (CATS) at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. He also tutors and mentors postgraduate dentists in oral surgery at UCLAN Dental Clinic in Preston.
Dr. Tariq Drabu is speaking about an article in the DenistryToday.com website on the ADA’s recommendation for earlier distribution of fluoride for children. The full article which was published on the 24th February 2014 can be read here.
Dr. Tariq Drabu said, “Information given by the ADA (American Dental Association) always said that children should be given fluoride by the age of six, but new information has revealed that children should be given fluoride much earlier. In fact, children should start using fluoride toothpaste as soon as their first teeth push through.”
Dr. Tariq Drabu went on to say, “Using fluoride early on can reduce the rate of tooth decay in children. Children with cavities are growing in numbers around the world; many children already have their first cavity by the time they start day care. Parents don’t have to give children a large amount of fluoride toothpaste, a small amount will work wonders, but the sooner it is used the better the outcome.”
Dr. Tariq Drabu closed in saying, “I have always been passionate about education and I use this passion in my practice on a daily basis. Everyone at Langley Dental Practice understands the importance of educating our patients, which leads to improved oral health. Patients that don’t have the information cannot make the changes. Parents will be given this new information to reduce the risk of cavities in their children and we will continue to encourage regular dental check-ups. Ideally, we would love for children to stay cavity-free for many years before having to seek the assistance of a dental professional. It will be interesting to see what the outcome is when children start using fluoride early on.”
