Executives Graduate from UNC’s Global Executive OneMBA® Program
Chapel Hill, N.C. (PRWEB) June 16, 2014 -- The University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School graduated its 11th class of OneMBA®, the global executive MBA program, on June 14, 2014.
The executives began their studies in 2012 in Washington, D.C. with students from all of OneMBA’s founding schools:
• Tecnológico de Monterrey Graduate School of Business Administration and Leadership (EGADE) in Mexico
• Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) in the Netherlands
• CUHK Business School, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong
• Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-EAESP) in Brazil
“We are very proud of our OneMBA students’ commitment to developing the knowledge and skills they need to be global business leaders,” said Jayashankar Swaminathan, OneMBA associate dean and the GlaxoSmithKline Distinguished Professor of Operations. “They join a network of 1,000 OneMBA alumni in senior leadership positions in over 50 countries, as well as more than 32,500 UNC Kenan-Flagler alumni living in over 80 countries.”
During the 21-month program, they worked with their worldwide class on global virtual project teams, a significant component of OneMBA. They also networked with classmates from all five schools and learned from partner-school faculty and local business leaders during residencies in The Netherlands, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, India, Hong Kong and the United States.
This class averaged 13 years work experience at organizations such as Argon ST, Apple, BASF Corporation, CH2M Hill, Citigroup, CVS Caremark Corporation, Deutsche Bank, E*TRADE, General Electric, IBM, JP Morgan, Quintiles, Wells Fargo and the World Bank. They traveled from Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and around North Carolina to take their UNC OneMBA classes.
Richard Allison, executive vice president of international of Domino’s Pizza, gave the keynote address. He received undergraduate business and MBA degrees from UNC Kenan-Flagler. Allison joined Domino’s Pizza in 2011 after more than 13 years at Bain & Company Inc. where he was a partner and co-leader of Bain's restaurant practice. He is responsible for overseeing all of the Domino’s Pizza business outside the continental U.S., including more than 5,300 stores in more than 70 international markets.
Graduate Daniel S. Montgomery Jr., corporate projects supervisor for Pioneer Natural Resources in Argyle, Texas, spoke on behalf of the graduating class. He cited a phrase he learned at the U.S. Naval Academy: Ship, shipmate and self. “The saying defined the prioritization of commitments from a young sailor to the most senior of officers. No one person was bigger than their peers and no one group was bigger than collective,” Montgomery said. “A continuation of this ideology is what led me, and likely many others, to Kenan-Flagler. I would dare to say you will not find another educational institution that strives to these ideals, moral ethos and accountability.
David Ravenscraft, the Fulton Global Business Distinguished Professor of Finance, received the excellence in teaching award from Jeff Rhodes, vice president of finance operations for CVS Caremark Corporation, who presented it on behalf of the graduating class.
