Vendor-managed Inventory Program Will Reduce Carrying Costs and Out-of-stock Incidents

For customers pursuing LEAN and other practices designed to drive out lead time and cost, this is a perfect fit.

Ross Optical Industries announced today an expansion to its suite of inventory solutions for glass optics and assemblies to reduce customer supply chain costs.

To better serve customers in an industry with traditionally long lead times, Ross Optical now offers a vendor-managed inventory program in addition to Kanban and blanket purchase order options. With vendor-managed, or consignment, inventory, Ross Optical places optics and assembly stock at the customer site, available on demand; customers are not charged until they use the inventory. This business model saves carrying costs and has proven to reduce stock-outs by up to 45 percent in multi-year studies.

President Divi Mangadu stated, “For customers pursuing LEAN and other practices designed to drive out lead time and cost, this is a perfect fit. We continue to look for new ways to partner to reduce supply chain costs and risk.”

Inventory management is offered for high-volume customers of standard and custom optics, micro optics, aspheres and assemblies. Ross Optical also partners with 21 manufacturing partners around the world to further reduce offshore procurement risks while driving out costs.
