Continuing its strategic growth in the nation's capital, international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP welcomes Robert S. Brams, a highly regarded senior Partner from Patton Boggs, to Co-Chair the firm's Washington, D.C.-based Government Contracts & Projects practice.

“We are one firm focused on delivering exceptional quality by working collaboratively across a one-of-a-kind, 29-office footprint in the world's largest legal market, the United States, and seven fully integrated centers of excellence worldwide. Our model is focused on delivering value to our clients not building an empire, and we have rejected the concept of growth for growth's sake through multiple mergers let alone vereins to achieve size and many office locations but not excellence,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Chief Executive Officer for Greenberg Traurig.

“The opportunity to selectively grow our Washington, D.C. office with an individual of such high quality, and further our plan of elevating the office generally as a high firm priority, is extraordinary. Bob is not only a model for excellence in his practice, but is the kind of person who fits well into our culture of respect and collaboration, and is likely to spur further growth in his own practice and beyond. We are proud to welcome him into the Greenberg Traurig family.”

Further illustrating what Greenberg Traurig is achieving as “one team with one voice,” according to Rosenbaum the firm has added approximately 80 laterals in the past 12 months.

"I chose Greenberg Traurig because of the people there that I know, the unique geographical and practice platform and the ability to provide leadership in an area of great strategic importance to the firm," said Brams. "I also was attracted by the unified nature of the firm and its strong and disciplined management team in a world where those things have become so very important."

Brams chaired Patton Boggs' Construction Law Group and has over 25 years of experience in negotiating the various complex contractual arrangements associated with the development of major engineering and construction projects and advising clients on claim and risk management issues and the resolution of disputes on major public and private sector projects. He regularly assists governments/owners, developers, architects, engineers and contractors on a broad range of domestic and international matters involving facility and infrastructure development, public private partnerships, project delivery, procurement, and the preparation and negotiation of the various contract and project documents critical to successful project delivery. Brams’ practice also focuses on bid protests, as well as the mediation, arbitration and litigation of performance disputes on federal, state, and overseas construction and engineering projects. He is a mediator and arbitrator on projects. He has served as lead counsel on transactional and dispute matters on a number of the largest infrastructure projects in the world.

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley appointed Brams to serve as the only private sector representative on the Governor's public-private partnership oversight commission. In that capacity, Brams testified at various hearings at the request of and with the O'Malley administration's top officials. Brams is Chambers-ranked and listed as a "Washington D.C. Super Lawyer”.

Although it has identified the region as an important growth priority, Greenberg Traurig already maintains a strong presence in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia, with more than 125 attorneys in the region, and approximately 1750 attorneys in a total of 29 markets in the U.S. as well as seven locations in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. Elsewhere, the firm continues to attract top-level teams and individuals as part of its strategy to grow and bolster key areas of practice important to clients addressing the impact of global market issues, whether locally, regionally or internationally.
