Cornell DeWitt Joins artnet as Vice President of Business Development
New York / Berlin (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- artnet is pleased to announce that Cornell DeWitt has joined the team as vice president of Business Development, effective immediately. In this role, he will be managing artnet’s global business development, leading the continued expansion of the Gallery Network, auction sales, and the Price Database, as well as sales of advertising to art world companies.
artnet CEO Jacob Pabst said, “I am thrilled to be welcoming Cornell to the artnet family. His experience and the widespread respect he has earned while leading the PULSE art fair, in particular, give him the perfect background to take the Gallery Network and art world ad sales to the next level. With our news platform, artnet News, having quickly hit over 1 million pageviews a month, and growing by double digits every month, this appointment is another step in strengthening artnet’s leadership position in the art world.”
“Online remains the last great frontier in the art world,” said DeWitt, “and while artnet’s leadership in that realm remains unparalleled, the potential remains virtually untapped. I am honored to be joining that legacy, to work with Jacob and his incredible team, taking artnet to the next level.”
For 20 years, Cornell has been at the forefront of connecting audiences and art. Since co-founding one of the first online art galleries in 1995, he has also owned and operated an eponymous gallery in New York, acted as director of a major international gallery, curated exhibitions, advised private collectors, and dealt in the primary and secondary markets. Between 2010 and 2013, he served as director of PULSE Contemporary Art Fair in Miami and New York. During his tenure, he remade the PULSE brand into one of the most popular and trusted Contemporary art fairs by galleries and visitors alike.
Cornell has a master’s degree from New York University, where he has also served on the faculty.
