Moravia Renews Gold Sponsorship for Translators without Borders
Brno, Czech Republic (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- In a crisis, the inability to give and receive information can often mean the difference between life and death for those who don’t speak a major world language.
That’s why Moravia has renewed its Gold Sponsorship of Translators without Borders. A U.S.-based 501c3 charity, Translators without Borders translates educational, healthcare and disaster-relief materials for non-profits in areas that speak non-standard languages. To date, the organization has donated more than $3.4 million in pro bono translations, but according to Lori Thicke, president, the charity’s economic impact is actually much stronger.
“Our work has paved the way for an additional $6-10 million in donations all across the world,” Thicke said. “Last year, for example, we translated a website for Haiti that’s already received over $600,000 in donations. It raises money to help women start their own small businesses, and without the translated content, none of it would be possible.”
Renato Beninatto, Moravia Chief Marketing Officer and an advisory board member of Translators without Borders, added, “Failure to speak a major world language leaves vast populations isolated from the rest of the world. The work we do makes it possible for global communities to get information most of us take for granted—and much of it has the power to save lives.”
“We’re very grateful for Moravia’s donation,” Thicke said. “It helps us support non-profits we’re already working with, like Action Against Hunger, Partners in Health and Doctors without Borders, and helps us continue to expand our reach.”
