Creator of NBC’s “Undateable” Adam Sztykiel and actor Rick Glassman give an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the network’s newest sitcom.

On Thursday, June 12th, AfterBuzz TV welcomed writer and producer Adam Sztykiel along with one of the sitcom’s leading men, Rick Glassman, to the studio. The two joked around quite a bit, but still gave plenty of exclusive anecdotes on the creation of the show. Sztykiel and Glassman sat down with AfterBuzz TV hosts Kylie Hodges, Stacy Ike and Courtney Tezeno for the “Undateable” after show.

On the NBC show, actors Rick Glassman, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, and David Fynn are a group of friends in Detroit who welcomes ladies man Chris D’elia into their crew. During the interview, AfterBuzz TV got exclusive information about how the show came to fruition, and how the cast was selected. Sztykiel explains: “The backstory is that there was a book called Undateable- 311 things a guy can do to guarantee he’ll never get a woman… guys making bad fashion choices and stuff like that. Bill Lawrence, who created the show with me, said we can make a show out of this. And we sort of sat down and figured it out… it was just photographs… so we decided on Detroit, came up with the idea of a guy who runs a bar and is kind of down on his luck and this other character a guy comes into his life and shakes things up for him and his buddies and it evolved from there. And we always talked about doing a show set around stand up comics we went out and found these guys and that to me is what the show always was and when it came together.”

Rick Glassman explained his journey to landing the audition for the show: “At the Hollywood Improv he [Bill Lawrence] saw us… I knew he played basketball… and that he also created Scrubs, two things I love…so I did everything I could to get in that basketball game… And then he sent us an email saying ‘hey come in for this show’.”

Actor Rick Glassman also reflected on his experience touring with the other “Undateable” cast members and creator Bill Lawrence saying it was a great experience with great friends.

Creator Adam Sztykiel also reveals his wife makes an appearance later in the season.

The AfterBuzz TV after show for “Undateable” returns this Thursday at 9pm PST, with hosts Kylie Hodges, Stacy Ike and Courtney Tezeno. Make sure to tune in for a possible guest appearance.
