EKU Online Adds Four Master’s of Arts in Education Degree Programs
Richmond, KY (PRWEB) June 20, 2014 -- Eastern Kentucky University will offer additional online master’s in education programs including Middle Grades Education, Literacy P-12, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education for Fall 2014. The programs are designed to serve current Elementary, Middle Grades, Secondary and Special education teachers. Program graduates certified in Kentucky will be eligible to apply for the Kentucky Teacher Leader Endorsement and advancement in Rank.
Dean of EKU’s College of Education Dr. Verna Lowe, said, “EKU has a respected history in preparing today’s teachers for the challenges of tomorrow. We are excited to offer additional opportunities with the potential to benefit such a large and diverse range of graduate students.”
EKU was founded as a teacher’s college and has been preparing education leaders for more than a century. EKU Online Program Coordinator and Professor Faye Deters looks forward to connecting with a larger, more diverse group of students through the new online programs.
“We hope to broaden our reach and offer a larger audience of graduate students, who might not otherwise be able to attend a more traditional on-campus program, the opportunity to advance their schools and careers,” said Deters.
EKU Online students will take the same courses and earn the same degree as on campus education students. Faculty describe the curriculum as learner-focused with special emphasis on individualized teaching and learning, giving students opportunities to advance their career and enhance the learning experience of their students.
