VIF Lends Support to the Secretary of State’s North Carolina-Moldova Partnership
Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- VIF International Education, the leading provider of global education programs for K-12 schools, announced last week that it will provide access to professional development and curriculum resources in support of international education collaborations established through the North Carolina-Moldova Partnership, an initiative of the state of North Carolina. North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall traveled to the Republic of Moldova on Friday to visit with Ministry of Education officials and deliver VIF’s in-kind gift.
Formed in 1999, the North Carolina-Moldova Partnership facilitates cooperation and exchanges between these two states in areas including education, culture, economic development and science. In order to promote global learning, Secretary Marshall’s office is promoting educational partnerships between North Carolina elementary, middle and high school students and educators and their counterparts in Moldova. As of this month, with assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, the Secretary of State’s Office has helped establish eight partnerships between schools in North Carolina and Moldova and will continue to engage additional schools throughout the summer. In addition to encouraging cultural exchange, these educational partnerships are intended to provide educators in Moldova and North Carolina with additional professional development opportunities and classroom resources to further their students’ global learning.
Authorized as a U.S. Department of State Exchange Visitor Program Sponsor, VIF International Education provides global education and cultural exchange programs that prepare teachers and students for success in an interconnected world. Since its inception in 1987, educators worldwide have leveraged VIF’s professional development and curriculum, language acquisition and teacher exchange programs to create engaging, international learning environments.
VIF’s Global Gateway system offers an integrated platform for educator professional development, classroom resources and participation in a collaborative community of global educators. To support the educational collaborations established by the North Carolina-Moldova Partnership, as well as the tenants of the U.S. Department of State Exchange Visitor Program, VIF is working with the Secretary of State’s Office to provide Global Gateway licenses granting Moldovan teachers in partner schools with access to educational resources which include:
• Educator-to-educator and school-to-school partnerships facilitated via Global Gateway’s learning center community;
• A classroom resource library of ready-to-use global lesson plans and instructional materials;
• Inquiry-based professional development modules.
“There is much to be gained from mutual cooperation and understanding between people in the United States and other countries,” said VIF CEO David Young. “We’re excited to support our state's global education initiatives and we hope our gift of Global Gateway strengthens the efforts of the North Carolina-Moldova Partnership.”
Global Gateway currently serves more than 4,000 teachers and administrators from 65 countries, including some 3,000 North Carolina teachers who share an interest in global and cultural literacy.
