Mostyn Law Hires High School Summer Intern through the Communities In Schools of Houston Program
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- Mostyn Law is participating for the first time in the Houston Bar Association’s Communities In Schools’ of Houston Summer Legal Internship Program. The Firm is hosting one intern for the eight-week program. For the last 20-years this program has provided high school students from at-risk backgrounds with the opportunity to work in local law firms. The goal of the program is to help promising high school students onto the first rung of the professional career ladder and to invest in a diverse, talented workforce that will secure Houston’s economic future.
“We are excited to be participating in this program for the first time,” said Steve Mostyn, founder of Mostyn Law. “It gives us a chance to give a deserving student valuable experience that will hopefully launch them forward on their journey onto college or into the workforce.”
In addition to working as an intern for local law firms, students participating in the program attend weekly lunchtime seminars, visit a federal judge’s courtroom and participate in a mock trial presided over by a Harris County District Judge. Bryan Cooksey, an upcoming senior at Lamar High School has been chosen to work at Mostyn Law for his eight-week internship.
“I am happy to have this opportunity,” Cooksey said. “I think I will gain invaluable experience this summer and I can’t wait to start learning from the employees at Mostyn Law.”
