Sports Hernias are the Topic of a New "Leading Edge" Segment Hosted by Jimmy Johnson
(PRWEB) June 24, 2014 -- Sports hernias have been seen by athletes across a number of sports. A hernia is a tear or strain within the soft tissue of the groin or lower abdomen area. The soft tissue can be in the muscle, tendon, or ligament.
Sports hernias affect athletes of all levels. Jimmy Johnson, a former NFL coach, is the host of Leading Edge, a series dedicated to discussing an array of topics to the general public. Issues including health, politics, and education have been covered in the past. In this segment, Johnson discusses sports hernias.
The segment will go into detail as to what a sports hernia is, how it can affect the athlete, as well as how it can be treated. Muscle injuries are common and if an athlete ignores a sports hernia, it can cause a significant amount of pain and prevent the athlete from being able to continue playing the game.
As an NFL coach, Johnson has seen many sports hernias in his time. The segments go into detail about this type of injury and what people can expect from such a sports injury.
The in-depth coverage can be found on an upcoming episode of Leading Edge.
The series has been distributed to Public TV stations around the United States and has not been distributed by PBS.
