Educators at Connections Academy are offering a fun, free, online summer-themed trivia game to remind families of the importance of keeping kids engaged in learning, especially when school is out for summer vacation. Students of all ages—and their parents—can play the Connections Academy Quiz Bowl Trivia Challenge: Summer Fun Edition and then challenge their friends.
Featuring twenty trivia questions of varying degrees of difficulty, the Quiz Bowl Challenge promotes lively and educational discussion and serves as a resource for parents looking to incorporate learning into every day summer activities. Parents can recognize Summer Learning Day—on June 20, 2014— to emphasize the importance of summer learning and start family discussions about educational summertime opportunities. Ideas to help keep students learning throughout every season are also available from Connections Academy by visiting http://www.connectionsacademy.com/resources.
Anyone can “play” the Quiz Bowl Challenge online, or download a printable version for use in the car, at parties, or over dinner, by visiting http://www.ConnectionsAcademy.com/Quizbowl.
ABOUT SUMMER LEARNING “SLIDE”
Research has shown that academic concepts can “slide” over the summer, so providing children with learning opportunities allows them to hold on to previously learned knowledge and better prepare them for the new school year.
The new Trivia Challenge is available to the public and is inspired by Connections Academy’s year-long Quiz Bowl Challenge—a popular activity designed to educate Connections Academy students and one of the many clubs and activities students at the virtual school enjoy.
