Aronia berries are about to make a bold marketing move into the health ingredient arena.
Portland, Maine (PRWEB) June 19, 2014
Blueberries and cranberries have long been the go-to berries for developers of health-focused food and beverage products. Now, along comes Aronia–the flavonoid-rich berry native to America and phenomenally popular in Europe. Aronia is about to make a bold marketing move into the health ingredient arena.
Aronia, Blueberries, Cranberries: The New ABCs of Healthy Berries
Artemis International, a leading marketer in the US of dark-pigmented, health-promoting berry-based ingredients, is launching a campaign to boldly position Aronia berries among the best-known, healthiest berry ingredients in the food industry. The “New ABCs of Healthy Berries” campaign links Aronia berries with health icons blueberries and cranberries. While Aronia berries are significantly less familiar than blueberries and cranberries, they deserve the A+ they get for powerful health-promoting properties.
Aronia berries have super-high levels of anthocyanins and proanthocyanadins–two flavonoids with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
“They belong right up there in the pantheon of the healthiest berries,” says Leslie Gallo, Vice President of Operations for Artemis Farms, a division of Artemis International. “Our goal with the new ABCs campaign is to position Aronia right where it belongs: with the leading healthy berries, blueberries and cranberries. When consumers and the trade learn about this ‘Flavonoid Superstar’–a fruit with three times the antioxidant capacity of blueberries–demand will follow.”
Aronia: The Flavonoid Superstar™
Artemis will first introduce Aronia, The Flavonoid Superstar, at the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Food Expo in New Orleans (June 21-24), and in October at Supply Side West in Las Vegas. The new ABCs of Healthy Berries campaign includes a new website, AroniaHealth.org, as well new promotional Aronia materials, developed by Artemis Farm’s marketing agency the Food and Wellness Group based in Portland, Maine.
AroniaHealth.org focuses exclusively on the Aronia story, providing information on Aronia ‘s unique history, potent flavonoid health benefits, and research, with links to consumer and trade products.
According to Jan Mills, President and CEO of Artemis International, “Aronia berries are a new and exciting addition to the healthy ingredient landscape. We believe product manufacturers seeking novel ways to engage the health-conscious shopper will seize the opportunity to add Aronia to their product lines–-and consumers will be demanding it.”
Artemis International and Artemis Farms are part of the Artemis family of brands, providing berry-based ingredients to the functional food, beverage and nutraceutical industries as well as a line of BerryDark Aronia™ branded ingredient and retail products.
