Cloudigy Law Pilots A Stem Program For Arlington Middle Schoolers
McLean, Virginia (PRWEB) June 20, 2014 -- Cloudigy Law, an intellectual property and technology law firm (http://www.cloudigylaw.com), has partnered with Arlington County Public Schools to pilot a STEMpreneur program for middle school students who are interested in developing a business around their own scientific invention.
“As a former chemist, STEM programs have long been a passion of mine,” said Antigone Peyton, founder of Cloudigy Law. “It is incredibly important to ignite the passion for science and technology in our students and mentor them in those disciplines. Students are a very important part of our innovation culture and we need to continue to develop those skill sets in our next generation.”
Cloudigy Law is working directly with Jim Egenrieder, a leader of STEM education programs in the DC area, on piloting STEMpreneur. As a joint employee of Arlington Public Schools and Northern Virginia Community College, he coordinates STEM education outreach, strategies, and program development for Arlington, Alexandria City and Falls Church City public schools.
The Cloudigy team is currently working with an Arlington 8th grader of great promise who has actually been developing her product for a couple of years. Her invention is a helmet that reduces concussive impacts by spreading it around the helmet so that one part of the head doesn’t take the full blow.
To date, Cloudigy has helped the student file a patent application and supported her efforts to get grant money and work with institutions in order to continue the research on helmet design and materials.
