Lafayette Parish School System Selects BenchPrep to Bring Technology to the Classroom (and the Cloud)
Lafayette, Louisiana (PRWEB) June 24, 2014 -- BenchPrep is pleased to announce that the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has selected BenchPrep to provide digital courses for college readiness and ACT preparation for the 2014-2015 school year. The online program will launch in August of this year and will be offered to all high school juniors in the district.
The partnership reinforces LPSS’ ongoing commitment to enhance teachers' instructional capabilities through advances in technology and educational knowledge bases.
“As the stakes for student success on the ACT continue to rise both for students and school districts in Louisiana, Lafayette Parish is looking for tools to help our students achieve to their highest potential on the ACT," says Randy Bernard, Academic Specialist at LPSS. "It is our hope that BenchPrep will become an important component in our learning toolkit for high school students."
The BenchPrep program will provide interactive digital coursework, assessments, and rigorous analytics that instructors will use to coach students to master necessary skills and techniques required to demonstrate proficiency in core math and language arts, subject areas tested by the ACT and on other college readiness benchmarks. BenchPrep’s program is designed to drive student engagement using game mechanics, including immediate feedback techniques, flashcard games, student leaderboards, and more. Results from student activities are used to report strengths and weaknesses back to instructors and suggest where to focus in the classroom.
The BenchPrep program features the ACT Mastery curriculum created by Craig Gehring, a Louisiana native who made perfect scores on both the ACT and the SAT, and who now oversees the fastest-growing ACT prep program in the nation. "We are excited that Lafayette is bringing the ACT Mastery program to its students through the BenchPrep platform," says Gehring. "BenchPrep does a tremendous job of driving student engagement and brings our ACT prep content to life. Higher ACT scores will provide these students with better college opportunities and better chances for scholarships." The test-prep expert will be making periodic visits to Lafayette to provide additional support and to work closely with teachers on the implementation of the program.
BenchPrep is equally excited for school to start next year: “We are thrilled to help Lafayette Parish’s students prepare for their upcoming ACT examinations,” noted CEO Ashish Rangnekar. “I am inspired by their ambition to use technology to further the learning experience of their students. At BenchPrep, we strive to create educational tools that are highly engaging and provide personalized learning to every student. We look forward to working with LPSS teachers to help students achieve their college and career goals.”
Lafayette is one of several school districts in Louisiana partnering with BenchPrep in the 2014-15 school year.
