The KPA Group Receives Ruby Level Award From International Partnering Institute
Oakland CA (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- The International Partnering Institute (IPI) is a non-profit organization working to make construction a culture of partnership. The 5th Annual International Partnering Institute Awards ceremony was held on May 15, 2014 at the San Francisco International Airport Museum. IPI award-winner, John Thorsson of NCC Construction, Sweden was the keynote speaker. John talk about partnering and the changing construction culture in Scandinavia and Europe.
This awards event is a way for the IPI to recognize and reward individuals, companies and projects that go on to excel in the principles of partnering, and to acknowledge the use of IPI best practices and collaborative efforts to achieve extraordinary results.
The KPA Group was awarded the Partnered Projects Of The Year Ruby Level Award for their work on the SFO Boarding Area E Improvements Terminal 3 Project at San Francisco International Airport.
This extensive project involved a $138M rehabilitation of the 68,000 sq. ft boarding area E of Terminal 3 for United Airlines. Working in collaboration with Hensel Phelps Construction Company, The KPA Group helped to ensure that the project was planned, designed and delivered for 20-30% less cost than other aviation terminals.
The Partnered Project of the Year Awards are given to teams who have distinguished themselves through the implementation of high-trust working relationships, IPI’s best practices and who deliver an outstanding project as a result. Nominees are judged on factors such as including all project participants and stakeholders throughout the process, proof of a high trust culture and capability to efficiently overcome problems.
Indeed, throughout the rehabilitation project, the KPA Group overcame extensive water damage problems, challenging underground conditions and also completed a late addition of an elevator shaft. Despite these challenges, the entire project was still delivered safely, on time and under budget.
