The Coach House has enjoyed much recent publicity as one of the region’s rising foodie destinations, and this new appointment is firm testament to its dedication to culinary excellence and a determination to become the number one fine dining venue in the area.
French born Jean-Marc brings a huge amount of top-flight experience to this role with a career that has seen him cooking in some of Europe’s finest eateries. His passion for food began in childhood with an upbringing that taught him to appreciate the ritual of French meal times and the flavours of well cooked, fresh food.
It was this passion that led him to pursue a career in cooking, and after graduating from catering college he carved out his apprenticeship in the tough, no compromise kitchens of Michelin starred restaurants in Burgundy and the south of France.
From there, he moved to the UK where he spent over 10 years working alongside chef Michael Caines MBE, and was part of the team which earned the celebrated Gidleigh Park its second Michelin star.
Following this phenomenal success, Jean-Marc went on to excel in the kitchens of such culinary luminaries as John Burton-Race and Richard Phillips before returning to the fold as Executive Chef at Michael Caines’ ABode in Canterbury.
With this kind of pedigree arriving in North Devon, it’s no surprise that there are ripples of excitement spreading through the local community. Lucky diners at the Coach House will now have the chance to sample the finest in contemporary cuisine as Jean-Marc works his magic with the region’s sublime local produce to create a menu that combines high quality seasonal ingredients with passionate creativity and innovation.
The Kentisbury Grange Hotel, home of the Coach House, is a luxury boutique hotel nestled on the edge of the breathtaking Exmoor National Park and just a few miles from Barnstaple and the stunning beaches of the North Devon coast.
